Jon William Rohal, 85, formerly of Mansfield, passed away October 28, 2024.

Jon was born October 7, 1939 in Steubenville to Michael and Rita Thompson Rohal. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Ohio State University. Jon taught in the Upper Arlington School System for 30 years and the Upper Arlington Parks and Recreation System. He was Athletic Director at Hastings Middle School and coached middle school girls basketball. Following retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher and served as principal at St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School in Crestline, Ohio. Jon was a veteran who was a member of the United States Army for 2 years.

Jon enjoyed baseball and coaching little league, golf, Ohio State Football and especially fishing with his boys at “Bernie’s Pond”. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, NEA, Wyboo Golf Club, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Cincinnati. Jon served as a Senior Altar Server and distributed Meals on Wheels while living in South Carolina. He organized local road beautifications and serviced them daily. Jon enjoyed volunteering as a Marshall at the Memorial Golf Tournament in Dublin each year; an exciting experience for him.

Jon is survived by his wife Pat of Amelia, Ohio; three sons, Brian Rohal (Jamie) of Washington, DC, Todd Rohal (Laura) of Tacoma, WA and Andrew Rohal (Amanda) of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Michael Rohal (Judy) of Mansfield, OH; two grandsons, Alexander Rohal and Arden Rohal of Cincinnati, Ohio; many niece, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Nicole T. Rohal and several loving dogs, most recently his Jack Russell terrier, Roscoe.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 60 S. Mulberry Street, Mansfield. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail.
