MANSFIELD: Carl E. Isley, 73, of Mansfield passed away, Thursday, August 29, 2024 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness.

The son of Howard and Margaret (Larimore) Isley, Carl was born January 15, 1951 in Mansfield and graduated from Lexington High School. Carl first corresponded with Rosemary Bernhardt, who at the time was living in Nebraska, by hand written letters. Eventually Carl drove to Nebraska to meet Rosemary. The two were married and enjoyed 46 years together before Rosemary’s passing in 2019.

Carl’s first love was farming. He loved the outdoors, the animals and the hard work that goes into maintaining a farm. Carl and Rosie, along with their two sons, Brad and Shaun moved back to the Mansfield area where Carl began his career as a truck driver. An owner/operator, Carl drove across the country as a long haul trucker, working hard to support his family.

Carl attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and more recently StorySide Church. Carl was also an ordained minister.

He is survived by his sons Bradley Isley (Liz Bryant) and Shaun Isley; grandchildren Tyler and Eliah Isley and Dylan Maffett; great-grandchildren Greyson and Magnolia Isley; siblings David (Jeanie) Isley, Beverly (Mike) Ryder, Alan Isley and Emily Isley (Gary Sias); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary Isley and daughter-in-law Belinda Isley.

The Bellville Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Isley family. A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
