PLYMOUTH — We’re in Week 1 and the Plymouth football team has already won half as many games as last season.
The Big Red accomplished that feat on Friday night, ripping Oberlin 31-0 in a convincing season opener.
Coach John Gillum’s defense was absolutely throttling. The Phoenix were limited to eight yards rushing and eight yards passing.
Meanwhile, Plymouth gained 260 yards on the ground alone. Ethan Keefe spearheaded the Big Red’s offense with 107 yards rushing.
Plymouth led 7-0 after the first quarter and opened a 14-0 halftime advantage.
It was 16-0 through three periods, and the Big Red triggered a running clock with a pair of touchdowns in the final 12 minutes.
Plymouth returns to action on Friday night at Willard.
