Clarence Ray Addington, age 71, of Mansfield Ohio passed away on July 17, 2024 at Lexington Court Care following a brief illness. On May 18, 1953 Ray was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Hobart and Dorothy Addington. He was raised in Mansfield, Ohio and graduated from Mansfield Senior High. After high school, Ray went to work at Burger Chef. He then went to work at Stone Containers for 30+ years until they closed down and retired from Blevins Fabrication. In Ray’s spare time he loved to pitch horseshoes, play cornhole, cards and also shoot pool. But most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his world. He was the best papa that they could ever have. Ray had a contagious smile and loved everyone. He was a kind soul.

Ray is survived by his daughters, Amanda Addington and Ashley (Ryan Smith); grandchildren, Adrianna Addington, Allyson Temple and Gabriel Smith; adopted sisters and brothers Preshie (Dave Stirtzinger), Carrie (Dan English) and Jason (Ashley Addington); sisters-in-law, Kathy Addington and Kimberly Addington; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and a couple of aunts, cousins and friends that we call family.

His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart & Dorothy Addington; brothers, Randall, Kevin and Philip Addington; great-grandchild, baby Addington and maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lexington Court Care for their wonderful care of Ray for 2 1/2 years.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
