(Photos and videos from the final day of training for new members of the Mansfield Fire Department. Sworn in Monday, the new firefighters spent the week learning department policies and procedures. On Friday, it was hands-on training in a variety of areas, utilizing the former Fraternal Order of Eagles building (now vacant) on North Main Street in Mansfield. Some of the training was done while the new firefighters were wearing blindfolds to simulate no visibility in a smoke-filled room. The training was led by Capt. Dave Compton, who has 28 years with the MFD, along with a cadre of Mansfield firefighters. On Monday, the new probationary firefighters will begin work at their newly assigned station houses.)
