Companions Home Health and Nurse Aid Training has added a new location in Bellville. Companions opened in Bellville on October 1 and is also available in Ashland, Ontario, and Wooster. Companions will celebrate their Bellville opening on Satruday during Bellville’s “Christmas in the Village.”

Owner Tiffany Behrendsen described their choice to move to the Bellville location.

“We had the opportunity to move into the McAuley Towne Center and we jumped at it. We wanted to provide training in the southern part of the county and it is a great fit for us. We are local and we are helping to create jobs for the area,” said Behrendsen.

Behrendsen also teaches the nurse aid classes that will be available starting on January 8. Along with Behrendsen, Teresa Kreager will also be instructing. Kreager is an LPN and Behrendsen is an RN. Both Kreager and Behrendsen have been instructing the course since 2004.

“We are having a Grand Opening Special for the classes with a price of $500. The classes will be held Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The special will run until January 24 and we will keep the classes to a comfortable size with eight people,” said Behrendsen.

Companions provide home care to Ashland, Wayne, and Richland counties. Services that are offered include meal preparation, shopping, bathing, and cleaning. “For the holidays or family events, we will act as personal assistance for the patients, that way they can still go to special occasions,” said Kreager. All services have a charge of $13 an hour and all staff members are licensed, bonded, and fingerprinted.

“Home health is great because we can hire you as soon as you complete the course and the hours are flexible,” said Kreager.

“I love this community. The people here are just so welcoming and friendly. This is beneficial in many ways because we get to keep the students of the classes here locally. It will generate business for the community,” she added.

On Saturday, Dec. 7 McAuley Towne Center will be hosting a “Christmas in the Village” Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All of the businesses in the center will be open. Vendors from 31, Avon, Advocare, Dazzling Purses, Pampered Chef, Gold Canyon Candles, and Lindt Chocolate (RSVP) will be in attendance. Food, refreshments, and door prizes will be available, too.

Businesses that are located in the McAuley Towne Center include Companions Home Health and Nurse Aid Training, Shirley McAuley Accounting, Jones Insurance, and It’s Sew You! Shop. It’s Sew You! Shop has been located at the McAuley Towne Center for about six months and offers alterations, mending, and customized home décor.

“We are really excited and it is a great addition,” said McAuley of the addition of Companions to the location, “It will create a lot of foot traffic in this area.”

“We wanted to provide training in the southern part of the county and it is a great fit for us. We are local and we are helping to create jobs for the area,” said Tiffany Behrendsen.
