MADISON TOWNSHIP — A jump in division hasn’t derailed Madison’s postseason fortunes.
The sixth-seeded Rams (19-5) will meet No. 5 Findlay in a Division I Bowling Green district semifinal game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bowling Green State University’s Merserve Field.
Madison jumped up to Division I this year after spending the past several seasons in Division II. The Rams last competed in Division I in 2017.
Madison advanced to the district with a 3-0 win over No. 9 Oregon Clay in the sectional final. Emma Stankovich had two hits and drove in a run, while Libby Bekeleski doubled and knocked in a run. Pitcher Layla Azmoun struck out five in the complete-game six-hitter.
Findlay thumped No. 7 Wapakoneta 13-3 to punch its ticket to the district tournament.
Division II
Three of the four teams in the Division II Willard district tournament call Richland County home. Top-seeded Lexington (24-2) will take on defending district champ and sixth-seeded Ontario (12-12) at 3 p.m. Tuesday, while No. 2 Clear Fork (15-7) will meet No. 4 Norwalk in Tuesday’s nightcap.
Lexington dispatched No. 10 Tiffin Columbian 15-2 in the sectional final, while Ontario upset No. 5 Clyde 8-2. The Colts (15-7) beat No. 8 Bellevue 13-2 to punch their ticket to the district tournament. Norwalk upset No. 3 Shelby 6-5.
Division III
Sixth-seeded Galion will take on No. 5 Edison in the Division III Shelby district semifinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Tigers (10-12) upset No. 2 Crestview 10-5 to advance, while Edison upset No. 4 Upper Sandusky 14-11.
Division IV
Fourth-seeded Lucas will meet No. 1 Monroeville in a Division IV Galion district semifinal game at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Cubs beat No. 7 Norwalk St. Paul 9-8 to advance while the Eagles beat No. 10 Crestline 10-0.
