Matthew J. Dropsey passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2024, at the age of 56 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on July 17th, 1967, in Mansfield, Ohio to William and Jeannine Dropsey. He was a 1985 graduate of Mansfield St. Peter’s High School and went on to study art and art history at Bowling Green State University.
Matt was witty, smart, quiet, kind, and patient. He used his words wisely, spoke up for things he believed in, and discussed things he loved, but did not waste words just to fill the silence. He loved books, movies, music, art, fantasy football, and board games. He created the beloved character, Ralph. He was an avid baker and an incredibly talented photographer. He was a great friend, a loving son, a wonderful brother, and a really amazing uncle!
He is survived by his brothers, Chris Dropsey and his wife, Julie, Andy Dropsey and his wife, Jenni, and David Dropsey; his nieces and nephews, Sarah, Michael, Noah, Agatha, Louisa, and Max.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 5th from 3 – 5 pm at Herlihy Funeral Home (173 Park Ave. W, Mansfield, OH 44902.) The Funeral Mass will take place Monday, May 6th at 10 am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (60 S Mulberry St., Mansfield, OH 44902.) A burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
