Eileen Ann Kliner, 85

Eileen Ann Kliner, 85 passed away peacefully, early Tuesday morning, April 2, 2024 in her home.

She was born on June 27, 1938 to the late John and Helen (Pero) Kalafus in Mahoning County, Ohio.

Eileen was a 1956 graduate of Pitts High School. After graduating in 1959 from the Mercy School of Nursing, Eileen spent many years working at Mercy Hospital in Canton, Ohio.

Eileen married Daniel Kliner on January 9, 1965 and they celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing on October 16, 2019.

Dan and Eileen retired from dairy farming in 2002. She loved working outside in her garden and reading, often falling asleep with a book in her hand. Eileen loved playing Euchre and was a fierce competitor and was a unique puzzler. She always had an unfinished puzzle on her table, just ready to be worked on by the many who came to her home and was encouraged to add a piece to two during their stay.

Eileen is survived by two daughters, Kris (Mike) Kearns of Yellow Springs, Ohio and Karen (Don) Alsop of Ashland; one son, Dan (Michelle) Kliner of West Salem; and eight grandchildren, Kaitlin (Charley) Peoples and Alexandra Kearns, Stephen and Megan Alsop, Kaleb, Kourtney, Kolton and Makayla Kliner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Rod Kreidler presiding. Entombment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday, April 12, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Edward Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio or the Ashland County Council on Aging, 240 East 3rd Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
