MANSFIELD, Ohio — A drug deal gone wrong left police and Children Services sorting out a mess.
According to a Mansfield Police Department incident report, four individuals were arrested Wednesday afternoon, one man remains at-large, and Children Services was called for a 4-year-old boy who was in one of the cars involved in a high-speed chase across the city. Police also seized a bag containing 10 grams of marijuana.
Police arrested Ashley Nabors, 26, Grant Delk, 18, Rashawn Clark, 19, and Timothy Robinson, 19. According to a police report, the list of charges in connection with the incident includes felonious assault, endangering children, possession of drugs, inducing panic and criminal damaging.
“This is just another unfortunate example of drugs and violence that ultimately affects the community,” Police Chief Ken Coontz said. “But you know, when I sit back and reflect on that, the real victim of the whole thing is the child — being exposed to violence, drug use and being placed in a dangerous situation.”
“All over a bag of weed,” he added.
The report said Akeem Tubbs, 25, tried selling a bag of marijuana to 19-year-olds Clark and Robinson. Police said chaos ensued when Clark and Robinson drove away without paying and Tubbs went after them in Delk’s car.
During the chase, at least four other cars were damaged, authorities said.
According to witness accounts, Tubbs exited the vehicle at one point to chase after Robinson and Clark on foot. According to the police report, Tubbs is described as a black man who stands 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 141 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His listed address is 189 Hedges St.
