After a long and blessed life, Caroline Ruth went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was 93.
Betty Caroline Ruth was born in Lexington, Kentucky on June 20, 1930 to parents Thomas M. and Mabel (Cheers) Cox. She grew up in western Pennsylvania, where she attended a one room school house and graduated from New Castle, Pennsylvania high school in 1947. She went on to graduate from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania in 1951 with a bachelors of Music Education. On June 9th, 1951 she married the love of her life, Frank H. Ruth. They shared 67 wonderful years of marriage together until his passing in 2019, now they are together again.
A woman of strong faith Caroline lived her life with love and grace. An active member of many churches over the years, she served in the choir, as a deacon and elder, organist, and on various committees and circles. Most recently she was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Cross in Lexington, Ohio.
For many years she was a substitute teacher in Richland County schools and then in the Cincinnati area. In 1980 she obtained her realtor’s license and worked for Sibcy Cline in Cincinnati.
Caroline was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a caring friend to those who knew her.
She is survived by her two children Jeff Ruth of Marion, Ohio, and Deb (James) Oberlander of Mansfield, three grandchildren James Oberlander of Bowling Green, Ohio, Bryan Ruth of Westerville, Ohio, and Sarah (Tad) Davis of Lexington, Ohio, great-grandchildren Bryce, Annie, and Cole Oberlander and Claire, Alaina, and Jonathan Davis, and her sister Joan (Don) Henry of Roaring Gap, North Carolina.
Along with her loving husband Frank, Caroline is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions can be made at the service to OhioHealth Hospice or to The Salvation Army.
The Ruth family will receive guests from 5:30-7:30 pm on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with an hour of visiting prior. Burial to follow at Mansfield Memorial Park.
