MANSFIELD, Ohio – Richland County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an armed robbery that took place Monday afternoon at Puffs Cigarette & Tobacco on North Trimble Road.
Richland County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the store at 1:18 p.m. Monday. According to the employee working at the time of the robbery, a white male wearing a grey hoodie and grey sweat pants came into the store and demanded the money out of the cash register. The employee said he had an object wrapped in a pair of boxer shorts that resembled a gun.
The employee opened the register and the suspect emptied the register before running out of the store.
A witness told deputies that he saw a suspect run from the business and leave the scene traveling northbound on Trimble Road in a silver vehicle with a female passenger.
Another witness said she saw a man enter Puffs wearing a gray hoodie.
The Mansfield Police Department found the suspect’s vehicle a few hours after the robbery on West Fourth Street.
A suspect has not been found. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office has released surveillance video they obtained from the scene of the robbery.
