Just in time for the holidays adding a new dimension to your Christmas shopping just got a little easier. Mansfield’s own local favorite Spazz Monkey is coming to a location near you, the Richland Mall.
Spazz Monkey designs and manufactures three dimensional wall décor. The current location 1655 Nussbaum Parkway is still central to manufacturing, producing and shipping the majority of their products. According to Matt Winemiller, owner, founder and Chief Doodler 2013 has been a year of growth and change.
“We are ahead of pace, 2013 has gone really well. We have had growth, done a lot of shows, added licenses and new products. This move will help us in that expansion and make it easier for our customers to buy and order our products,”said Winemiller.
Spazz Monkey designs and manufactures original three dimensional wall art made from PVC board. Each individual product is comprised of multiple pieces skillfully layered to create the three dimensional effect the company has become known for. Detail and quality such as hand finishing each piece with a dry-brush shading technique has helped to create the Spazz Monkey brand as original and unique.
Though Winemiller had been approached by several other malls, making the decision to choose Richland Mall as the next step in the company’s growth plan made good business sense to him and fit the company mantra. “We want to keep it local, boosting the community, helping the community, that’s what it’s all about,”said Winemiller.
New to the company, other than a mall storefront, is the addition of newly acquired college licenses from Kentucky, Louisville and Duke University. Product development has also expanded to include t-shirts with original design print. Probably best know for their collegiate sport collection of wall art for OSU and Buckeye designs, Spazz Monkey designs and manufactures products to represent over 40 high schools and over a dozen universities. Local businesses have also benefited from the designs, most recently a new sign created for local employer Startek.
Winemiller attributes his success and the growth of the company to his creative passion and the encouragement and support of family and community. Winemiller believes that keeping an open mind and line of communication with his employees is what has added if not created the success he has seen.
“I’m feedback driven, I ask-What do you think? I get everyone involved,everyone has a creative bug. I truly believe that having a team building mentality, where everyone feels like family and their opinion matters has been a great part of our success,”said Winemiller.
Winemiller looks forward to the opening of the new location and says they will continue to develop and design new, original products. Continuing to do shows such as Prairie Peddler is also on the adjenda though they will cut down a bit as product development grows. The vision for 2014 and beyond according to Winemiller will be to focus on product development, expanding lines for children, adults, college ages and possibly a nursery collection. Branding the Spazz Monkey presence is also part of the growth pattern Winemiller envisions.
Winemiller hopes to open the new location by the end of October and encourages everyone to come see the store and new product line.
