MANSFIELD — Kyle Jackson didn’t show any signs of fatigue at the Richland Source Challenge.
Madison knocked off Bellevue 78-68 in the third annual showcase event Saturday at Ontario’s O-Rena behind Jackson. The 6-foot-6 senior swingman scored 28 points as the Rams played their third game in five days.
The headliner on the All-Richland Source Challenge boys team, Jackson averaged 28.3 points a game last week. He was one of four Rams to reach double figures.
“The attention Kyle brings … opens this up for other guys,” Madison coach Tim Mergel said. “He has done a really good job for us all season.
Other members of the All-Richland Source Challenge boys team are:
Jared Jakubick, St. Peter’s: The reigning Ohio Division IV Player of the Year, Jakubick had 19 points as the Spartans pulled away from Galion in the second half of a 71-56 win. The son of coach Joe Jakubick also did an admirable job while defending Galion’s Isaiah Alsip.
Isaiah Alsip, Galion: Already the author of a 41-point scoring night against River Valley, Alsip had 18 points in a 71-56 loss to St. Peter’s. The sophomore connected on four 3-pointers.
Caleb Stewart, St. Peter’s: The junior sharpshooter scored a team-high 20 points in a 71-56 win over Galion. Stewart did most of his damage in the first half.
Kyle Kurtz, Mansfield Christian: The senior marksman knocked down seven 3-pointers as the Flames upset Clear Fork 84-72. Kurtz scored a career-high 32 points.
Jared McPeek, Mansfield Christian: The senior point guard had 27 points in MCS’s 84-72 win over Clear Fork. McPeek’s ability to get into the lane opened things up for teammate Kyle Kurtz, who scored a career-best 32 points.
Uriah Schwemley, Shelby: The 6-foot-3 junior scored a team-high 21 points in a 65-58 win over Ashland. Schwemley also grabbed eight rebounds.
Garrett Denbow, Ashland: A 6-foot-5 junior, Denbow scored a game-high 25 points in a 65-58 loss to Shelby. Denbow scored 18 of his 25 in the second half as the Arrows nearly overcame a 19-point second-half deficit.
Trey Ruhlman, Bellevue: Bellevue’s potential second-half comeback was short-circuited when Ruhlman left with an ankle injury with 4:49 remaining in the fourth quarter. The 5-foot-10 junior guard scored 28 points.
Cade Stover, Lexington: The athletic 6-foot-5 forward was 9-for-11 from the free throws line and scored a team-high 13 points in a 56-48 win over Norwalk. The junior also grabbed a game-best nine rebounds, handed out three assists and drew nine fouls.
Brandon Haraway, Norwalk: The 6-foot-2 junior point guard earned all 20 of his points in a 56-48 loss to Lexington. Haraway also grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists.
Quan Hilory, Mansfield Senior: The 5-foot-10 junior guard scored 11 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds in a 44-36 win over Ontario. Hilory was awarded Senior High’s Hustle Chain for his work against the Warriors and in a road win at Mount Vernon on Friday.
