CRESTLINE – A bomb threat called into Crestline Village Hall on Wednesday morning has prompted an evacuation and investigation.

According to Crestline Mayor Clayton Herold, the call was received shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The building was evacuated shortly thereafter.

“We’ve evacuated and set up a perimeter,” Herold said just past noon on Wednesday. “We’re currently waiting on the Ashland County Bomb Squad to go through the building.”

In addition to administration, Crestline Village Hall hosts the village’s fire and police departments, which assisted in the investigation. The Crawford County Special Task Force is also on scene, a unit out of the Bucyrus Sheriff’s Office.

Herold did not know when the building would be reopened. He mentioned this was the first time Crestline’s administration has experienced a bomb threat.

“We’re going to let them do what they do best,” he said.
