ASHLAND – After months of waiting, the Ashland Chipotle restaurant is set for a grand opening Thursday morning.

A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and the restaurant will officially open for business after the event.

According to Shannon Hughes of Linhart Public Relations, the 2,240-square-foot restaurant at 1988 East Main Street (U.S. 250) will seat 79 indoors and another 14 on an outdoor patio.

Initially, Chipotle has hired about 30 employees to staff the new Ashland location.

The store originally was scheduled to open in May but issues delayed the opening until Thursday.

Chipotle will be open 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

Kay Jewelers had previously opened on the west end of the building and future tenants for Phase I of Ashland Commons include Sprint, Pulp Juice and Smoothie Bar and Pet Valu according to Meridian Realty Capital, developer of the location.

The first 50 customers in line Thursday will get a tote bag with Chipotle swag and currency, such as a buy-one-get-one burrito, bowl, salad or order of tacos coupon to be used at a future visit.
