MANSFIELD — Singing, dancing, gymnastics and more.
That’s what’s on the program Saturday night at the Mansfield Playhouse for the “I AM Talented” competition, a first-time event helping launch the organization’s 50th anniversary season.
Tickets are $10, doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8. A special ribbon-cutting will take place at 6 p.m. to officially kick off the new season, which begins Sept. 8 with the rollicking comedy “Noises Off!”
“We have 15 individual acts,” said Playhouse board member Tony Viscioni, who will emcee the evening along with board President Doug Wertz.
“We have some original songs and some parodies (in addition to dancing and gymastics) with six adult acts and nine children’s performances,” he said.
Viscioni said the contest will be staged in two rounds. Celebrity judges, including WMAN’s Rusty Cates and retired local Judge James Henson, will judge the first round. Top acts advance to a second round with the audience selecting a winner each category — adult and child.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Concessions, including wine and beer, will be available during the evening.
