The Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Northeastern Ohio, Inc., (RMHC-NEO) recently awarded a grant to several area non-profit organizations whose services are provided to children.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeastern Ohio, Inc., established in 1987 by local McDonald’s Owner/Operators, has awarded more than $9 Million to children’s programs across Northeast Ohio, including ongoing financial support of the Ronald McDonald House® programs in Akron and Cleveland and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®.
Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry in Cleveland was awarded grant funds to support their After School Prevention Resources (ASPR) Program aimed at youth ages 11 – 17. Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry’s ASPR Program seeks to identify and reduce the factors that place adolescents at high risk for engaging in delinquent behavior and/or using alcohol and other drugs and to enhance resiliency factors to reduce the likelihood of these factors. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operators Angelo and Susie Stames, owners of McDonald’s restaurants in Cleveland.
MedCentral Health System Pediatric Therapy in Mansfield was awarded grant funds to purchase items and equipment to support their speech/language, physical and occupational therapy programs for children with special needs. MedCentral Health System is the largest medical provider between Cleveland and Columbus, serving primarily Richland, Crawford, Ashland, Morrow, Huron, and Knox counties. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operator Larry Monica, owner of several McDonald’s restaurants in the Mansfield/Richland County area.
Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs in Akron will receive grant funds to purchase items and equipment to support their children’s program. The Akron Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs offers children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to experience all the friendship, fun and excitement of camp.
The Akron Rotary Camp has been a special project of the Akron Rotary Club since 1924. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operator John Blickle, owner of several McDonald’s restaurants in the Akron area.
Shoes & Clothes for Kids, Inc. located in Cleveland, was awarded grant funds to purchase shoe gift cards for disadvantaged children in Greater Cleveland. SC4K is the only non-profit organization in Greater Cleveland providing new shoes and clothes to thousands of children in need at no charge throughout the year. Through a network of distribution partners, SC4K positively impacts the lives of area children by giving them the self-esteem and confidence that comes from having brand new shoes and clothes. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operator Margo Karos, owner of several McDonald’s Restaurants in Greater Cleveland.
YMCA of Central Stark County in Canton will receive grant funds to purchase items and equipment to support their children’s programs at the Eric Snow Family YMCA facility. This new facility is currently under construction with a planned opening date of early 2014. The YMCA of Central Stark County serves nine communities: Alliance, Canton/Canton South, Carroll County, Jackson, Lake Township, Louisville, North Canton, Myers Lake and Minerva. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operators Paul and Michelle Siegfried, owners of several McDonald’s Restaurants in the Canton area.
RMHC-NEO’s mission is to support the Ronald McDonald House® programs in Akron and Cleveland and help children by awarding grants to qualified not-for-profit organizations whose programs improve the quality of life for children and their families in Northeastern Ohio.
Founded in memory of McDonald’s founder, Ray Kroc, RMHC-NEO awards grants to organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax exempt status whose programs benefit children in the areas of health care, medical research, education, the arts, and civic and social service. Since the chapter formed in 1987, more than $9 Million has been awarded to children’s programs across Northeast Ohio, including ongoing financial support of the Ronald McDonald Houses in Akron and Cleveland and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile dental program.
Grant requests are considered for tax-exempt organizations within a 20 county area of Northeast Ohio. The Board of Directors meets three times a year to award funding. Grant application deadlines are early April, early August and early December.
