OBERLIN — Plymouth roared to a big lead in the first half and coasted all the way home to pound Oberlin 42-14 in the season opener at Oberlin College.
Colton Sparks peeled off a 58-yard touchdown dash on the second play of the game and the Big Red Vikings never looked back.
Senior Shae Sparks registered 124 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries. Plymouth compiled 342 yards rushing as it dominated the Phoenix at the line of scrimmage.
The Big Red led 14-0 after the first quarter and widened the gap to 28-0 at halftime. The two squads battled on even terms in the final period.
Plymouth travels to Willard on Friday night, part of a rough stretch in the schedule as the Big Red open the season with a three-game road trip.
