Are you planning a holiday vacation and have no idea how to pack? Did your last vacation flop when you had the wrong wardrobe?
If packing gives you headaches, use this handy guide to pack smart and still look good at the beach without having excess baggage or needing to purchase more mid-vacation.
1. Use the three-way rule. If you can’t wear it three times or three different ways. Don’t pack it. Remember your clothes should form a function, not add unnecessary weight to your bags.
2. Buy an inexpensive sun hat. They always seem to get ruined or left at the beach.
3. Shoes: Don’t let your love of shoes lead to unnecessary packing. Yes, it can be difficult to limit yourself to two or three pairs, but it will save you a heavy bag and the likelihood of you wearing those five-inch stilettos will be slim, especially if you’re on a family vacation. Remember, keep if functional. Think flip flops, ballet flats and tennis shoes. Or, depending on where you’re going, heels.
4. Pack only lightweight fabrics, lightweight cotton and jersey fabrics are perfect for a day at the beach.
5. Layers. Cardigans, jersey dresses, lightweight tunics, and a giant scarf can be key items to pack. And maybe pack a poncho, just in case you find yourself caught in a thunderstorm at Disneyland.
