“Monster trucks appeal to everyone. You can’t help but be fascinated because of the size,” said Mark Hall, driver of the Raminator.
The Raminator is a monster truck that will be appearing at Buckeye Superstore in Shelby on August 23 and August 24. “The Raminator is about 10 ½ feet tall and about 12 ½ feet wide. It weighs about 10,300 pounds and the tires stand at 5 feet 5 inches. It also has a Dodge Hemi engine inside of it,” said Hall.
Hall has been driving monster trucks since 1988. He and his brother, Tim, own Hall Bros. Racing, Inc. in Champaign, Illinois. “Tim builds the engines and performs more behind-the-scenes tasks of business, and I drive the Raminator and perform welding and construction of the frame,” said Hall. “We are a good team and really help each other.”
“When I first started racing in 1988, I never dreamed it would turn into this. It has been a wild ride to say the least,” said Hall. In 2001, the brothers signed with Chrysler Cooperation. “Chrysler is hands on with their work, they are great people to work with,” said Hall. “RAM Truck is another sponsor and this is our fourth year with them,” said Hall.
The Raminator has taken the Hall team across the country and beyond. “We have raced in about every major stadium and a ton of arenas.
“We have been to Canada, Puerto Rico, and Aruba. Every place we have been to is different and unique in its own way because each place has something that makes it extra special,” said Hall.
“This will be our second year coming to Buckeye Superstore. Last year, we had a really good turnout and the weather was just great. These events are fun and laid back. We really do have a blast,” said Hall.
The Raminator will be on display at the Buckeye Superstore at 278 Mansfield Avenue in Shelby on August 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On August 24, the Raminator will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 1 p.m., the Raminator will perform a car crush.
