TIFFIN — Tiffin Columbian roared to a big first half and held off a Lexington rally in the final two quarters to earn a 58-52 victory in Saturday night’s non-conference boys basketball game.
The Tornadoes vaulted in front 17-11 in the first period, and enjoyed a 32-19 halftime bulge. The Minutemen closed to within 42-35, but came up short short in the end.
Hudson Moore posted 18 points and 12 rebounds to spearhead the Minutemen, while Baden Forup chipped in 14 points.
Four Tornadoes reached double figures in a balanced Tiffin Columbian offense. Logan Beason scored 14 points, followed by Bryce Burns with 12 and Brayden Roggow and Jayden Meyers added 11 apiece.
The Minutemen dominated the glass with a 31-21 rebounding advantage, but Tiffin won the game at the free throw stripe, hitting 20-of-28 from the stripe, compared to 7-of-12 for Lex.
Lexington falls to 9-6 and will host Mansfield Senior on Friday.
Tiffin Columbian improves to 12-4 and plays at Sandusky Perkins on Thursday.
