MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Police Department is seeking the public’s help in its investigation into a Wednesday afternoon stabbing.
According to a press release issued by Capt. Shari Robertson, authorities are looking into an incident that took place at approximately 12:19 p.m. Mansfield Police responded to the YMCA located at 750 Scholl Road in reference to a stabbing.
“Once on scene, officers were advised that a verbal altercation inside the location resulted in subjects leaving the building and continuing the argument outside, near the entrance,” the press release states. “At some point during this outside altercation, a 36-year-old male victim was stabbed at least once.
“The victim was transported to a local hospital and left in the care of Emergency Room staff for treatment.”
Patrol Officers at the scene detained a 21-year-old male believed to be involved in the altercation.
Police said this was an isolated incident and initial indications are that an online argument and/or posts led to the altercation which resulted in the victim being stabbed.
The investigation remains ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
