The Lexington girls varsity soccer team bounced back last night in a 2-1 win at home over Bexley.
Lady Lex picked up a first strike from Abigail Adams on a Lauren Walker assist, but Bexley’s Abbie Sapp quickly leveled the score with a strikes of her own.
The teams would stay scoreless until 10:00 left in the game, that Catherine Schaefer’s left-footed rocket shot found the back of the net and the tie was broken.
The Minutemen also got a big game from keeper Lily Keller. Keller snagged 6 saves to help her team limit Bexley to just one score. Bexley’s Renata Russo picked up two saves.
The win moves Lex to 2-4-1 o the season and 1-0-1 in OCC play. Tuesday’s win also sets the stage for Thursday’s OCC contest against Clear Fork at the Lexington Soccer Complex. Clear Fork holds the no. 6 ranking in the OSSCA state poll for Division II with a 4-0-1 record.
