SHELBY — The Shelby Whippets take the field every autumn as a heritage transcending many generations in the city’s history.
Though school buildings rise and fall through the decades, and though the Black Fork River rises periodically over the lined grass, W.W. Skiles Field holds its own through time with a proud tradition of Friday Night Lights.
These images from the 1930s, 40s, 50s and today reflect a history that hardly changes, yet is ever new.
