ONTARIO — A fire Monday afternoon at the Burlington building is suspected arson, according to the Springfield Township Fire Department.

A reward of $5,000 for information leading to the identification of person(s) responsible for the fire has been offered.

On Monday, at about 4:17 p.m., the Springfield Township Fire Department was dispatched to 580 N. Lexington Springmill Road.

Fire department investigator Josh Bradley said he could not comment on details that led him to believe this was an act of arson.

“It was a working fire when we pulled up,” Springfield Township Fire Department Chief Matt Carey said Monday evening. “It was actually such a large fire that the sprinkler system wasn’t putting it out.”

One person was treated and released for smoke inhalation, Bradley said.

As a result of the collaborative on going investigation, it was determined this was a crime and not natural or accidental, the department said.

“We ask anyone present or that has pictures, videos or other information please contact authorities immediately,” the fire department said.

Bradley can be reached at 419-295-5071. The Ontario Police Department can be reached at 419-529-2115.
