Back in January I wrote in a column that 2019 would be the year of the membership. I pledged that we would work like crazy to deliver a great combination of the best in local journalism, exclusive access to newsmakers, and valuable members-only benefits.

Today our work to build the world’s best local news membership program – seriously, that’s really our goal – takes a great big step forward. Seventeen steps to be exact.

We’re proud to announce the first seventeen locally-owned partner businesses that offer exclusive benefits to Source members. And what a list it is! We’ve got bicycles to boots, groceries to gifts, and sandwiches to swimming pools. And the coolest part is that using the benefits even a little basically pays for your membership.

All members at the Supporter and Pillar levels are automatically eligible for the benefits. Starter members can upgrade today and save 20% with the code UPGRADE.

Membership is different than a subscription. It’s harder, really. For one, subscriptions have paywalls. I think we can all agree that paywalls stink, and part of keeping them down is reader support, which is why we’ve put this program together. We gotta pay reporters and editors to do this work, after all.

Even if you’re lukewarm on the whole “support local news!” thing, everybody loves a good deal, right? Join us today to support local journalism that says goodbye to paywalls and hello to savings!
