BUCYRUS — A Crawford County juvenile, in court Tuesday for a social media threat against Bucyrus Schools, is also facing charges for a similar incident earlier this year, according to a Bucyrus Police report.
Authorities say they were called to Bucyrus Schools at around 10:10 a.m. on Monday to investigate a disturbance at the high school.
A juvenile was identified that had used twitter to send threats and was taken into custody after threats were made against the district on social media, officials stated in a police report. This juvenile, who is not being identified because of their age, is awaiting a hearing in juvenile court on Tuesday, Feb. 13, and the investigation is ongoing.
Charges are also being pursued against this individual for a similar incident earlier this year, the police report stated.
“We received an unsubstantiated threat of violence against the school district and made the decision to do an internal lockdown to ensure the safety and security of all Bucyrus City School District students and staff members,” Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “We take all threats against our district very seriously and will do everything possible to make sure students are safe and secure when they are in our care.”
