WOOSTER – Recent bank robberies in Loudonville and Mansfield may be linked to Thursday’s robbery at the Farmers National Bank in Wooster.
In the Wooster robbery, at about 4:23 p.m. Thursday, Wooster Police responded to a hold up alarm at the Farmers National Bank located at 305 W. Liberty St.
Upon arrival, the suspect had already fled the area. Officers immediately secured the crime scene and made sure all involved and the surrounding area was safe. No one was injured during the incident.
The white male suspect in this case did brandish a handgun and is approximately 5-feet-6-inches tall, 126 pounds, and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

According to a press release from the Wooster Police Department, the investigation is ongoing but the Wooster robbery has many similarities to two other robberies from the past two weeks.
The FBI also issued a press release Friday indicating the suspect in the April 25 robbery in Mansfield may be linked to the other two robberies.
On Wednesday, a white male entered the Farmers & Savings Bank in Loudonville around noon and presented a note demanding cash. He then fled the scene on foot. The suspect is that robbery is described as a white male in his early 20s, about 5-foot-5-inches tall with dark colored hair, no facial hair and a tattoo on his right hand. He was wearing a dark colored hoodie, camouflage pants, and white tennis shoes.
On April 25, a suspect later identified as 26-year-old Christopher McCarthy passed a note to the teller at the Ashland Road branch of Richland Bank. He then received an undisclosed amount of money and fled northbound on foot. An arrest warrant has been issued for McCarthy. He was identified after numerous tips and calls were placed to the Mansfield Police.
The FBI and the US Marshal Service are involved in the ongoing investigation into all three robberies, along with the Mansfield Police, the Loudonville Police and the Wooster Police.
Law enforcement is asking that tips on McCarthy’s possible location be provided to the FBI at 216-522-1400 or the US Marshals at 866-4Wanted or text tip to 877411. It is believed that McCarthy may be in possession of a firearm.
