MANSFIELD — The Independent Living Center of North Central Ohio has selected Dan Jackman as its executive director.
Jackman, who assumed leadership on Aug. 3, brings more than 33 years of professional public service, leadership, community advocacy and human services experience to the organization.
In his new role, Jackman oversees operations, programs, staff, community partnerships, and strategic direction. He is also tasked with expanding regional awareness of services available to people with disabilities.
Jackman began his career in July 1993, serving individuals, families, and communities across Ohio.
Before joining the center, he served as director of community advocacy for the Mount Vernon Police Department. In that position, he worked with crime victims, juveniles, older adults, individuals experiencing homelessness, and people facing mental health, substance-use, and other life challenges.
His background also includes leadership and supervisory roles in juvenile treatment and behavioral health settings. Throughout his career, Jackman has partnered with law enforcement, non-profits, social-service providers, treatment organizations, government agencies, and community leaders to connect individuals and families with needed resources.
Additionally, Jackman has served on boards, coalitions, and organizations addressing disability services, domestic violence, animal welfare, suicide prevention, and juvenile treatment.
Jackman holds an associate degree in criminal justice from North Central State College, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Ashland University, and a master’s degree in adult education from Ashland University. He holds a State of Ohio license in drug and alcohol counseling.

“My career has always centered on helping people, building relationships, and connecting individuals with the resources and support they need. I believe strongly that people with disabilities deserve the opportunity to make their own choices, pursue their goals, and live as independently as possible within their communities.”
His key priorities as executive director include strengthening existing programs, increasing the center’s visibility, building new community partnerships, securing additional funding, and ensuring residents across the service area are aware of available resources.
“ILCNCO has an important mission, and I believe there is a tremendous opportunity to build upon that foundation,” Jackman said. “I want our organization to be recognized throughout North Central Ohio as a strong resource, advocate, and community partner. We will continue listening to the people we serve, strengthening relationships throughout our communities, and looking for new opportunities to expand our impact.”
