Charles “Chuck” Alan Scott age 77 of Johnsville passed away peacefully late Monday, August 31, 2026 at Country Meadows Care Center surrounded by family. He was born October 23, 1948 in Galion, Ohio to the late Ralph and Ruth (Peoples) Scott.

A graduate of Northmor high school, Chuck was a member of the class of 1968. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the United States Army with the destination of Vietnam and would remain there as a diesel generator operator for over a year with an E-4 classification.

Upon return to the states, he worked as a journeyman for Fleetwood mobile homes in Crestline. With the trailer business moving out of state, he started working at Galion Manufacturing making Road Graders until they went out of business. He was also an avid hunter and a member of the Crawford Beagle Club.

On February 24, 1973 Chuck married the love of his life Patty Simmons and together they shared more than 53 years of marriage. Throughout all those years, they were active in the community and dedicated to any church activity on the schedule. He was a long-standing member of the Johnsville Grace UM Church, now recently merged with North Woodbury Alliance Church. Here he faithfully served as usher, trustee, was on the board, played softball, and eventually coached the church Dartball team to several Championship seasons. Whenever anything was going on at the church, he was there. Whether it was to set up, clean up, or fix up, you could always count on him. He planned a yearly Singspiration at the church for many locals to showcase their vocal talents. He was the President of the Morrow County Church Dartball League for countless years, organizing the season schedule and planning the season ending Double Elimination Tournament. He also played on the Johnsville Community Church softball team and never missed the annual Johnsville Grace ice cream social.

Having grown up on a small farm, he learned how to work hard and in high school joined the FFA. After classes, he worked as a farmhand plowing fields, planting, harvesting grain, and baling hay. His goal was to own a farm someday and that dream came true in 1974 when he bought the family farm and named it HOMEACRES. He was also an avid gardener who spent countless hrs picking strawberries and raspberries and growing a variety of vegetables for his Farmers Market Stand.

Chuck never missed a Veterans Day celebration and loved his country and the farm life. Christmas vacation trips to Florida to visit in-laws and family were highlight of the year. He looked forward to family cookouts and dinners with his siblings and was always in charge of making the Homemade ice cream. Chuck would often stop in at the Mar-Guy restaurant to help clean up the fryer grease and was paid in ice cream. He had a competitive heart for sports and in high school enjoyed playing basketball where he was a star player. You could often find him on Saturday mornings umpiring a girls softball game at the Johnsville ball diamonds. Chuck was so proud of his only son Brian where he was very active in taking him to baseball practice and never missed a game.

Chuck was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, Patty of Johnsville, son and daughter-in-law, Brian (Stephanie) Scott of Johnsville. Grandchildren, Mia (Colton) Brannon of Ashland, Lucas Knipp of Ontario, brothers Warren (Sharon) Scott of Mt Gilead, Ohio, Robert Scott of Morrow, Ohio, sisters, Dianne Rogers of Warren, Ohio and Pat (Terry) Smith of Ontario, Ohio and sister-in-law, Becky Scott of Delaware, Ohio and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Scott and mother and stepfather Ruth and Al Mosher and brother Raymond Scott.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cornerstone Caregiving staff supplied by the VA, Country Meadows Care Center staff, and VA Hospice, especially Reba, for the kind, compassionate, and loving care shown to Chuck and his family.

Visitation will be held from 8:30am to 10:30a.m. Saturday, September 5th, 2026 with funeral service immediately following at 10:30a.m. at the North Woodbury Alliance Church, 6385 OH-314, Mt. Gilead, Ohio 43338. He will be laid to rest in Shauck Cemetery in Johnsville with military honors following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Chuck’s memory may be made to Johnsville Grace Church.
