Raymond “Mark” Wilkinson of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on August 22, 2026, at age 79. Mark grew up in Shelby, Ohio and lived in Mansfeld his entire adult life.
Mark was preceded in death by his wife Diana, parents Raymond and Margaret (nee Winterberg) Wilkinson, sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Jim Hassler, and father- and mother-in-law Richard and Neva Burns. He is survived by his sons Matt, Marc and his cherished daughter-in-law Sarah, along with sister Sandy and brother-in-law Don Hammond, nephew Scott Hammond, beloved dog Bailey, and his friend and caretaker, Penny.
Mark was a 1965 graduate of Shelby High School and 1969 graduate of The Ohio State University. He was a successful small business owner who established the local Southern Title of Ohio real estate title insurance company in 1993. Mark entertained his staff with his stories, jokes, and quirky personality, and they enjoyed working with and for him.
Mark was best summed up in his Shelby City Schools first grade report card where, next to “Works without disturbing others,” his teacher Ms. Wilcox wrote “Likes to visit.” Mark enjoyed chit-chatting, telling his hilarious stories, and going out to local restaurants for laughs with his group of lunch buddies. While Mark could be hardheaded, stubborn and quick to anger at times, he always wore his heart on his sleeve, and you knew where you stood with him. Mark had a huge heart for animals and anyone with a sad story or who was down on their luck, and he was eager to help if he could.
Mark’s compassion shined through when he cared for his late wife, Diana, in their home while she fought Alzheimer’s disease at the end of her life. When Diana passed away, Mark lost his northern star and struggled living without her. He is no longer suffering from that grief and loneliness, and he has reunited with her in the afterlife.
The family will host a memorial gathering on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home on Marion Avenue. A brief ceremony will immediately follow, with Ed Stockwell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Diana Wilkinson Memorial Fund at the Richland County Foundation (Diana Wilkinson Memorial Fund) to carry on the work of tutoring students in the Mansfield City School District in Diana’s honor.
