Audrey Bernice Porter-Thacker of Mansfield passed away Saturday evening, August 8, 2026, at her home. She was 95 years old.
Born on June 1, 1931, in Carter County, Kentucky, she was one of nine children of the late Lottie (Stephens) and Morton Parsons. Audrey was a homemaker her entire life and enjoyed tending to her many house plants. Her favorite time was spent with her grandchildren. Audrey dearly loved and greatly missed her husband and father of her children, Peter Porter. She was blessed to find love again and, later in life, married Ernest “Re-Pete” Pete Thacker.
Audrey’s devotion to the Lord was ever present and she enjoyed going to church, attending Faith Chapel on Hanna Road and formerly attending Ontario Free Methodist Church. She diligently read her Bible and lived by the Word. Audrey was a creative song writer and poet, writing many beautiful words over the years that will now be treasured by all.
She is survived by three sons, Morris ‘Bud’ (Lisa) Porter, Roger Alan Porter, all of Lucas and Michael Kevin Porter of Mansfield; stepson, Myron (Diane) Thacker of Mansfield; sister, Doris Parsons Bellomy; fourteen grandchildren, Roger Porter Jr., Valeria Porter, Bradford Porter, Cassie Taylor, Kristen Dech, Stephanie Hoffer, Jason Porter, John Porter, Daniel Porter, Matthew Porter, Roger Baker, Glen Baker, Michael Porter and Peter A. Porter; numerous great-grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; and many cherished family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Peter Porter; second husband, Ernest Pete Thacker; siblings, Thelma Parsons Erwin, Hazel Parsons Sammons, Kenneth Parsons, Ted Parsons, Margie Pauton Parsons, Talmage Parsons Arnett, and Maggie Parsons Kirkpatrick; son, Kenneth Ray Porter; granddaughter, Andrea Kay Porter; and daughter-in-law, Tami Harvey Porter.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Jay Stevens and family friend, Steve Grover presiding. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery.
