Frances J. Spiroff, a devoted (Grand)Mother and friend, left this existence after a long and tough battle with cancer on March 20, 2026. At last, she is in great care with our Lord and may rejoin her beloved Husband of nearly 60 years, John Spiroff. She passed peacefully in the care of family.
Fran is survived by her two children, Christopher & Michelle, and the apple of her eye, Gabrielle, all of which are residents of Columbus.
She was predeceased by her Father & Mother, Ralph & Alice Griefenstine, her brother Ted, and younger siblings Bob and Eleanor Griefenstine.
Fran was born and raised in the small-town of Crestline, Ohio (September 19th, 1938). She was a graduate from Crestline High School in 1957. Fran played on the first Women’s Basketball team the school had and was an avid participant of their “Garden Club”. John and Fran hosted many get-togethers with friends and family at their place of residence off Henry St. Their newly bought and built home in the early 1960s was a major gathering place and staple of the neighborhood & community. While raising their two children, she never skipped a beat when making it to all of their extracurricular activities. She worked as a merchandiser at the county store for many years to keep herself busy. After retiring, they moved to Columbus to be closer to family and resided there for the remainder of their lives. They occasionally snuck away to their special paradise in FL, a getaway from the cold weather during the winter months. Fran loved sitting in the sun, preferably poolside and enjoying her beautiful greenery. She also loved dancing and listening to her smooth-jazz music.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 12:00pm at Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline, with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating.
