Grover Eugene Frey, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 19, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 2, 1932, on the family farm in Mansfield, Ohio, to Grover Cleveland and Bertha (Edgington) Frey. He graduated from Springfield Township High School with the Class of 1950.
Grover worked as a supervisor for Mansfield Tire and also worked for PPG and Wickes Lumber as a semi-truck driver. He was a faithful member of Hillside First Church of God and was proud to have helped source some of the materials used in building the church.
Grover had an exceptional knowledge of World War II history and could identify the many different types and models of airplanes used during the war, even knowing details such as the number of pistons in their engines. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and memories with others.
Grover married Doloris (Murray) Stolle on October 12, 2019, and she survives him. He is also survived by his daughters, Deborah Cheshire, Cheryl Eudaly, and Valedia Mueller; step-daughters, Lucille (Gilbert) Boebel and Janet (David) Constance; and sister, Wanda Hall and he will be missed by his cats including Minnie, Tiger and Ike.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Allen Frey.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, with his funeral service beginning immediately at 12 p.m. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
