Rebecca “Becky” Jane (Barbour) Loveless, age 83, long-time Shelby resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Ohio Health Mansfield surrounded by her loving family.
Becky was born on December 28, 1942, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late James and Mary (Pencil) Barbour. She spent much of her childhood in Shelby before her family relocated to San Bernardino when her father accepted a new job opportunity. Becky completed her senior year there and graduated from Pacific High School in 1960.
The transition from a small Ohio town and school system to a large California city could have been overwhelming for many, but Becky embraced the change with remarkable confidence and grace. She quickly became involved at school, joining the cheerleading squad, eventually earning the role of head cheerleader-an accomplishment she always held close to her heart. Even more meaningful to Becky was being chosen as Homecoming Queen by her classmates, a reflection of the warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit that drew people to her wherever she went.
After graduation, her high school sweetheart, Donald Loveless, joined her in California following his service in the military. The two were married on September 1, 1962, and soon returned to Shelby to build a life and raise their family together.
Becky devoted much of her life to caring for others. As a homemaker, she created a loving and welcoming home where everything was thoughtfully cared for and where family always came first. She took pride in preparing homemade meals, keeping an immaculate household, and ensuring Donald and the children always felt supported, cared for, and deeply loved.
Her compassion and servant’s heart extended far beyond her home. In later years, Becky worked as a teacher’s aide, helping children with reading and schoolwork, and she also spent time at Curves, leading and assisting with exercise classes that provided both fitness and fellowship for members of the community. Becky was active in several organizations dedicated to supporting others, including the Red Hats, Mother’s Club, and the Auxiliary Legion. She was a woman of deep faith and a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of Shelby.
Becky had a love for sports, especially golf, which brought her much enjoyment through the years. More than anything, she treasured supporting her family. Whether attending games, recitals, school events, or other extracurricular activities, Becky could always be found cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. No matter how busy life became, she always made time for each and every one of them, offering unwavering love, encouragement, and support.
Becky truly had a heart of gold. She was the glue that held her family together and the steady presence everyone could count on. Her smile could light up a room, and she had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome, comfortable, and loved. Her home was the gathering place for countless holidays, celebrations, and family events-always filled with delicious food, laughter, games, and cherished memories.
To Becky, no one was ever a stranger. As the family grew through the years, she lovingly welcomed each new addition with open arms and an open heart. Her kindness, generosity, and ability to make others feel like family were extraordinary gifts that touched so many lives. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Becky is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Loveless; three children, Steve (Sherrie) Loveless of Shelby; Deb Streib of Ontario, Ohio; and Jim (Karyn) Loveless of Tallmadge, Ohio; grandchildren, Holly (Nick) Durchik, Taylor (Jessica) Streib, Joel (Brionna Townsend) Loveless, Mary (Mike) Mozes, Kenna and Ryan Loveless, Tabitha Shindeldecker, and Samantha (Steven) Mchan; great-grandchildren; Cayden, Jackson, Raelynn, and Lainey Durchik, Madyson and Brock Taylor, Garrett and Clara Streib, Maeve Mozes, Lorelai and Miriam Penry, Joanna Shindeldecker, and Saralynn and Matthew Mchan; siblings, Alan (Michelle) Barbour, and Michael and Grace Ann Barbour; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.
