OLIVESBURG — The Mansfield Richland County Public Library has announced its plans to build a new Crestview library.
The new Crestview Branch will be constructed on land purchased from Faith Church along State Route 96, the MRCPL announced in a Monday afternoon press release.
This stan-dalone facility will replace the current location within Crestview Middle School, which has served the community since May 1998.
The new branch is expected to break ground in the fall of 2026 and will take approximately 18 months to complete.
“The Board and I are grateful for the continued partnership and support of Crestview City Schools for allowing us to house our current branch in the middle school building for many years,” said library director Chris May.
The new building will be approximately 6,000 square-feet of usable space with additional outdoor green space and ample parking.
“We look forward to giving the space back to the school as we continue to support their teachers and provide programming and a safe space for students and people of all ages,” May said.
After the careful review of several proposals, the Library Board has selected Bostwick Design Partnership to design the new space. Bostwick is based in Cleveland and has worked on library projects, including ones in Cleveland, Florida, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.
The new, modern facility will be designed to meet the evolving needs of the Crestview community, offering expanded resources, technology, and community space. Key features of the new branch will include:
- Expanded Children’s Area
- Dedicated Teen Space
- Community Meeting Spaces
- Increased Collection
- Sustainable Design
Services at the current Crestview location will not be disrupted during the building process.
The location in the Crestview Middle School is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours on Saturday are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.
