GALION — The Galion Tigers are on the move.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its divisional breakdown for the 2026 football season and Galion will drop to Division V for the upcoming season.
The Tigers reached the Division IV, Region 14 championship game last season before falling to eventual state runner-up and Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference rival Shelby.
Galion slotted into Region 18 of Division V. Region 18, encompassing northwest Ohio. In addition to Galion, 10 other schools moved into Region 18.
That list includes longtime Division VI heavyweight Coldwater of the Midwest Athletic Conference.
Two other area teams, Crestview and Plymouth, moved to new regions. The Cougars moved to Region 22 of Division VI after playing in Region 23 last year. The Big Red moved to Region 26 from Region 25 in Division VII.
Mansfield Senior, Madison, Lexington and Ontario all remain in Region 10 of Division III. Shelby and Clear Fork are again in Region 14 of Division IV.
Lucas and Crestline remain in Region 27 of Division VII.
The summer period, when teams are allowed up to 13 practices, runs from May 15 to July 31. Practice begins Aug. 1 and the season kicks off Aug. 21.
