MANSFIELD — Superintendent Mike Woogerd is pleased to announce the City of Mansfield’s Annual Arbor Day Celebration, which will also commemorate the city’s recognition as a “Tree City USA” by the National Arbor Day Foundation for the 31st consecutive year.
The City of Mansfield Shade Tree Commission will celebrate this milestone with a special Arbor Day ceremony on Thursday, April 24 at 10 a.m. at Liberty Park.
Liberty Park represents an important green space within the city and serves as a place for community gathering, recreation, and neighborhood engagement.
Maintaining a balance of history and future within our park ensures that it continues to be a welcoming and environmentally beneficial space for residents and visitors alike.
During the ceremony, the Shade Tree Commission will plant an Oak Tree (Quercus) in Liberty Park.
The tree has been generously donated by Alta Florist & Greenhouse in support of the city’s ongoing urban forestry efforts.
Similar to Mansfield, oak trees are renowned for their immense strength, remarkable longevity (often living over 300 years), and their role as ecological “superheroes,” supporting more life forms, including thousands of insect and bird species, than almost any other North American tree.
The community is invited to join the commission by celebrating Arbor Day 2026.
