PERRYSVILLE — No people were injured in a Perrysville house fire early Monday morning, but the flames led to the deaths of four pets.

The fire consumed a home located at 954 Township Road 2506. The four adults and two children in the home were able to escape safely with no injuries, Perrysville Fire Chief John Mott said.

The American Red Cross was also on the scene to assist the family with displacement.

The Green-Perrysville Joint Fire District received the call at 2:04 a.m., Mott said.

“It was heavy fire conditions — we started mutual aid automatically,” Mott said.

The Loudonville Fire Department, Hayesville-Vermillion Fire Department, Loudonville Fire Department, Mifflin Township Fire Department, Ashland Fire Division and Worthington Township Fire Department were called to the scene.

Mott said the home’s structure is a “complete loss,” and displaces four adults and two children who were living in the dwelling.

The Perrysville Fire Department crew did not leave the scene until roughly 9:45 a.m., Mott said. Some firefighters returned to the residence because of a “flare up.”

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was on the way to investigate the scene at the time of publication to determine a cause, Mott said.

The family was notified of the fire by the home’s smoke detectors.

“They woke up and found smoke in the house,” he said.

No surrounding properties were damaged due to the flames, Mott said.
