Raymond “Paul” Brown, 95, of Bellville, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, reunited at last with his beloved wife, Charlotte, whom he missed dearly since her passing on May 17, 2025.

Born July 27, 1930, in Lexington, Ohio, to Allen and Leona Brown, Paul graduated from Lexington High School in 1948 and soon after joined the United States Navy. He proudly served four years in Korea. After his military service, he returned home and worked for F.E. Myers, traveling nationwide to train dealers in all 48 states.

Using the G.I. Bill, Paul attended Toledo Barber College and, after graduating, opened Brown’s Barber Shop in Bellville. In 1959, he met Charlotte Harter, and they married in 1960, beginning a 65-year marriage filled with love, partnership, and shared purpose.

In 1971, Paul and Charlotte purchased Mac’s Sporting Goods and renamed it Paul Brown Sports, which they operated until selling the business in 1984. After the sale, they founded Mid-Ohio Trophy, continuing their commitment to serving the community. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, with especially fond memories of Sanibel Island and Tennessee, and they loved playing golf together.

Paul served on the Jefferson Fire Department, coached Little League, and led Scouts as Cubmaster and Scout Leader. A committed veteran advocate, he served as a 10-time commander of the Bellville American Legion and was a lifetime member of VFW 5101, Amvets Post 43, the 40/8, and a proud Mason for over 66 years.

Paul is survived by sons Darrel Brown (Deb) and Douglas Brown (Beth); grandchildren Allison Brown, Emily Kirk (Tony), Christian Brown (Laura), and Sheldon Brown; and great-grandchildren Brooks Kirk and Mollie Brown.

Paul often said his greatest accomplishments were possible because of the unwavering support of his wife, Charlotte. Now together again, he will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life for both Charlotte and Paul Brown, with military honors, will be held in the coming months.
