GALION — The Galion Kiwanis Club is proud to announce the return of its “Take a Coat • Leave a Coat” community program for a second year.
The coat rack is located at the pavilion of First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West, and serves as a simple and meaningful way for neighbors to help neighbors stay warm through the winter months.
The concept is as warm and welcoming as ever:
Need a coat? Take one.
Have a coat? Leave one.
Want to donate? Contact a Kiwanian — we’ll gladly pick it up!
The idea for the program began last year with Kiwanis member Jody Fraley, who recognized the need for an easy and judgment-free way to share coats with others in the community.
Fellow members Chris Buckingham Taylor and Brian Treisch helped bring the idea to life by building and installing the rack at the church pavilion.
“It’s been heartwarming to see how something so simple can make such a big difference,” said Kiwanis member Jody Fraley. “The community really embraced it last year, and we’re thrilled to continue the effort. No one should have to choose between staying warm and going without.”
The Take a Coat/Leave a Coat is open to anyone. Those who need a coat can take one anytime — no questions asked.
Anyone wishing to donate can drop off clean, gently used coats at the rack or contact a Galion Kiwanis member for pickup assistance.
The club encourages everyone to help spread the work and keep the rack full this winter.
