Geoffrey “Geoff” Drought Tadda, 59, passed away August 2, 2025, in his home.
Geoff was a father, brother, husband, coach and friend to many.
Geoff was born May 2nd, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Thomas Tadda and Shirley (Drought) Tadda. Throughout childhood, Geoff was an avid sports fanatic as he was involved in football, baseball, and golf. Geoff didn’t love just playing sports, he would also take any opportunity to tell you any sports fact he could think of no matter the sport. Geoff carried his love for sports into adult life whether it was softball league, dart league, bowling league or playing 18 holes. Geoff loved the golf course so much it was a must to take his family sledding down the Valley View hill on hole 18 yearly. Geoff had many admirable character traits, when Geoff walked in the room, laughter was soon to follow. He had humor that was funny without being mean and he had a laugh and smile that could light up a room and if he wasn’t making people laugh, he was entertaining them with a passionate karaoke version of Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet. Geoff was always the life of the party. Geoff had a love for movies and could most likely recite the entire movie of TopGun Maverick, The Bodyguard, and A Star is Born to anyone who asked and could tell you the lineup of Hallmark movies showing for the day during Christmas time. If you wanted to find him in the winter months you could always check the popcorn machine at the nearby movie theatre.
Geoff spent most of his life working in the restaurant industry where he served Cheddars for 25 years. Throughout his time at Cheddars many valuable friendships and family were gained as Geoff was referred to as the “best boss” many had ever had.
While most of the people that loved him called him “Tadda”. The people that loved him the most called him dad. He gave his kids the quickest wit and the ability to make hard situations light. Him and Amy created a home in Crestline that was full of quirky traditions and the funniest and most special memories. He loved watching us play sports whether that was Lydia and Lauryn on the softball field, basketball or volleyball court, or Geoffrey on the golf course and baseball field. Don’t worry though, he would never let us forget how great of an athlete he always was. When he wasn’t heckling the refs you could find him at the announcers table with a little more gusto when he got the chance to say “Tadda for 2”. Because of him we are proud to have the Tadda name known for such love, personality and lightness.
While Geoff’s time on earth was too short, Geoff shared his compassion, heart, friendliness and humor with many. We ask that you remember Geoff for his bright blue eyes and his jovial attitude towards the world. Geoff was the kindest soul who wore his heart on his sleeve and never met a stranger. As Geoff would say “Go Irish!”
Geoff is survived by his daughter, Alexis (Joel) Tyler, close friend, Amy Tadda, mother of Lydia Tadda, Lauryn Tadda, Geoffrey Tadda, his siblings, George (Rebecca) Tadda, Greg (Lynn Hodder) Tadda, and Garrett (Angela) Tadda, and numerous nieces and nephews.
