MANSFIELD — Volunteers are needed to place flags on Veterans’ graves in the Mansfield Cemetery starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 24.
Please meet in the back of the Cemetery by the Veterans Honor Grounds. Veterans will be there to hand out flags and give instructions on placement.
All Scouting groups and other groups are welcome to help with this important project. This project is sponsored by the Mansfield Community Memorial and Patriotic Association. Any questions, contact Mr. Bruce Phipps 419-544-0311.
Sunday, May 25
Avenue of the Flags will be held at 1:00 pm at the Mansfield Memorial Park, 2507
Park Ave. West, sponsored by The Auxiliary to the Mohican VFW 9943.
Memorial Day, May 26
A ceremony sponsored by the American Legion Post #16 will be held on Monday, May 26 at 9 a.m. at the Doughboy statue in Central Park to honor our World War 1 Veterans.
Following at 9:15 a.m., the Korean War Veterans, Chapter 51 will present a 21-gun salute and taps in front of the Korean War Memorial to honor our Korean War Veterans.
Memorial Day Parade
The Mansfield Memorial Day Parade will step off at the five-way light at 10:30 a.m. The parade will start forming at 9:45 on Marion Ave., back to Wood Street and travel down Park Avenue West to Central Park and end at the Gazebo.
There will be approximately 43 units marching in the parade this year, which include Marching Bands, an assortment of Fire Trucks, Police Cars, Sheriff’s car, and Military equipment along with area Veteran’s and other groups.

The Gazebo program
The program will start at the Gazebo at 11 a.m.
The Grand Marshal and featured speaker for the program will be retired Air Force Brigadier General Pamela Milligan.
The Fun Center Chordsmen will sing during the ceremony.
In case of rain, the Memorial Day service will be held at the AMVETS Post 26 at 1100 West fourth Street.

Saturday, May 31
Volunteers are needed to take down the U.S. flags that were put on the Veterans graves for Memorial Day at the Mansfield Cemetery starting no earlier than 10 a.m.
Meet at the Flagpole at the Veterans Honor Grounds in the back of the cemetery. Veterans will be there to instruct you on how to remove the flags, and where to bring them.
All Scouting and other groups are welcome to help with this.
