ASHLAND – Building on their existing collaboration and shared ministry, Grace Episcopal Church & Pantry of Mansfield and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church of Ashland are joining forces to host a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, inviting residents from both cities to share in a pre-Lenten celebration.

The event, set for March 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 1515 Mifflin Avenue, Ashland, aims to foster fellowship and community spirit ahead of the solemn Lenten season.

The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper is an opportunity for individuals and families from across the Mansfield and Ashland areas to come together, enjoy a meal, and connect.

As the last day before Lent begins, Shrove Tuesday — also known as “Pancake Tuesday” or “Mardi Gras” — is traditionally a time for feasting and using up rich ingredients before the start of the Lenten fast.

“We believe that by partnering, we can create a more meaningful and impactful event for our communities,” said Father Christopher Hofer, who ministers to Grace Episcopal Church & Pantry and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

“This pancake supper is not just about enjoying a delicious meal; it’s about building relationships and strengthening the bonds that connect us.”

Following the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Grace Episcopal Church & Pantry, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shelby will hold Ash Wednesday services on March 5, 2025. Service times and locations are as follows:
