SHELBY — No injuries were reported from a Saturday night fire which damaged an East Main Street home.

According to Shelby Fire Department Chief Mike Thompson, firefighters were called Saturday to 141 E. Main St. at 9:47 p.m. The department was contacted directly by a neighbor who saw smoke coming out of the home, Thompson said.

“No one was at home at the time of the fire,” the chief said. “There were no injuries.”

One pet was at home during the fire and was assisted in getting out of the structure.

Fire causes damages to property and contents

Fire damage was contained to the upstairs of the East Main Street home.

Several firefighters from Shelby, Shiloh and Madison Township assisted in extinguishing the fire. The cause is undetermined.

There is a property estimate of $116,000 with a $50,000 loss, according to Thompson.

Contents of the home were valued at $100,000 with a $30,000 loss estimate.
