REED TOWNSHIP –  A Bucyrus man was injured Friday night in a two-vehicle crash in Seneca County, according to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Stanlee Howell, of Bucyrus, sustained serious injuries and it is unknown at this time if he was wearing his seatbelt, the Patrol reported. He was transported to Bellevue Hospital by North Central EMS and later flown from Bellevue to MetroHealth in Cleveland.

Robert Smith, of Fostoria, was transported to Bellevue Hospital by North Central EMS. He was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

The Patrol stated it is investigating a commercial vehicle versus pick-up truck serious injury crash that occurred Friday at 6:43 p.m. on State Route 4 near State Route 269 in Reed Township.

The preliminary investigation showed a 2001 Chevy Silverado, operated by Howell was traveling northeast on State Route 4. A 2009 Peterbilt semi, operated by Smith, was traveling southwest on State Route 4. The Patrol reported that Howell attempted to turn left onto State Route 269 and was struck by the Peterbilt semi.

Both vehicles traveled of the right side of the roadway. The Peterbilt struck a nearby home before coming to final rest.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Bellevue Fire Department, North Central EMS, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Interstate Towing, and Wilcox Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
