LEXINGTON — Joe Caudill had himself a night, and the Lexington football team followed its quarterback’s lead to a second straight victory.

Caudill accounted for a whopping six touchdowns while spearheading the Minutemen to a 41-28 Ohio Cardinal Conference victory over visiting Wooster on Friday night.

The Lexington dynamo ran 17 times for 113 yards and three touchdowns, and completed 16-of-24 passes for 194 yards and three more scores.

Caudill’s favorite target was junior Brayden Fogle, who snagged six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.

Wooster scored first, on Julian Franklin’s 6-yard TD jaunt for a 7-0 second-quarter lead.

But that simply spurred Caudill into action. He ran for a 21-yard touchdown and tossed a 10-yard TD pass to Gage Powell for a 13-7 halftime advantage.

Each team scored 21 points in a wild third quarter.

Franklin ripped off an 80-yard scoring run, which Caudill answered with a 23-yard bolt of his own. Then Caudill plunged in from a yard away, before Franklin responded with a 59-yard scoring dash.

Fogle caught an 18-yard TD pass, yet Wooster responded when Hayden Meese caught an 80-yard touchdown pass from Calin Baxstrom.

When the dust settled, Lexington owned a 34-28 edge heading to the final 12 minutes.

But Caudill struck the final, clinching blow, connecting with Fogle on a 19-yard TD pass.

Franklin gained 189 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Generals.

Lexington countered with 200 yards rushing on 45 attempts.

The Minutemen improved to 2-3 overall, 1-0 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference. Lex is at Mansfield Senior next week.

Wooster falls to 1-4, 0-3, and will host West Holmes on Friday night.
