NEW WASHINGTON — Colonel Crawford grabbed control in the first quarter, and never let go in rolling past Buckeye Central 62-0 on Friday night in New Washington.
The Eagles rebounded from last week’s loss to Mohawk in convincing fashion, roaring to a 30-0 first-quarter lead.
The explosion began with Connor McMichael’s 63-yard run, and a safety on the Bucks’ ensuing possession.
Brayden Holt cut loose for a 70-yard touchdown dash, Dominic Dean scored on a 4-yard jaunt, and McMichael tacked on a 56-yard bolt to close the dizzying first 12 minutes.
The onslaught continued in the second quarter, when Holt shook loose for a 23-yard scoring sprint. Parker Weithman fired a 19-yard touchdown pass to Peyton Baker to make it 44-0 at halftime.
The second half was played with a running clock.
Avery Powers opened the third-quarter scoring with a 6-yard run, and Joseph Zizzo connected on a 23-yard field goal to push the bulge to 54-0 heading to the fourth period.
The Eagles (4-1 overall, 1-1 in the Northern 10) recorded their second safety of the night and Powers added the final touches via a 1-yard TD plunge.
McMichael finished with 119 yards on a pair of carries, both long touchdown runs. He also caught two passes for 44 yards.
The Bucks (2-3, 1-1) were limited to 42 yards of total offense, including minus-5 yards on the ground.
Colonel Crawford takes the bus to Bucyrus on Friday.
Buckeye Central is on the road at Carey next week.
