MANSFIELD: Lynette “Lynn” (Mers) Patterson, 70, of Mansfield passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following complications from surgery.
The daughter of Donald and Leona Mers, Lynette was born October 17, 1953, in Greenville, Ohio, and graduated from Columbus West High School. While at West High School, she was a member of the band when it marched in the 1969 Rose Bowl Parade. She graduated from The Ohio State University earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.
Lynette began dating Jim Patterson while in high school. The two married on September 6, 1975 and celebrated nearly 49 years of marriage.
Lynette’s career in elementary education spanned over 20 years culminating with 8 years at the Richland Academy of the Arts prior to her retirement.
Vivacious and energetic, Lynette lived with an effervescent energy. The life of the party, she loved sharing life with friends and family. Lynette took pride in looking her best both in her appearance and style. She loved to shop.
Lynette will be remembered for her genuine love of people. Her bright shining spirit was contagious and she will be greatly missed.
Lynette is survived by her husband Jim Patterson; daughter Karin Curtis and son Andrew Patterson; grandchildren Hunter Barnes, Taylor Barnes and her fiancé Elijah Stavistky, Dakota Barnes and Peyton Airhart; great-grandchildren Madison, Elijah, and Reign; siblings William (Debbie) Mers, Joy (Ken) Lloyd, Julie (Warren) Byle, and Donald Todd (Ashley) Mers; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday September 12, 2024 at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary at Wooster Nazarene Church, 3100 Oak Hill Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691, where her family will receive friends the hour prior from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm Pastor Andrew Heller will officiate. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to assist Lynn’s family with services.
